Bill Barr Reveals What Trump Needs If He Wins 2024
Former Attorney General Bill Barr told Fox News that former President Donald Trump will need people who can check his worst impulses around him if he wins the White House in 2024.
Barr, who served as Trump’s attorney general, said his former boss will not have a problem filling his cabinet because there will be ambitious people willing to take those roles. He, however, added that the former president would need people who can help “keep him on the straight and narrow.”
“I think he would be able to populate a cabinet and government positions because ambitions will lead people to take those jobs,” Barr said. “ The question is what kind of people they will be. I think Trump needs people around him who will push back and help keep him on the straight and narrow. During his first term, the main way that could be done is by pointing out to him how this would hurt his prospects for a second term. Once he wins a second term, I don’t know — you know — what considerations can be used to push back against bad ideas.”

Trump has vowed retribution on his opponents who have twisted the law to prosecute him. Barr added that Trump’s next attorney general must be able to say no to him if Trump attempts to misuse his power.
“He has to be ready to say ‘no’ and to resign,” Barr said. “Trump has made it plain that he’s going to respond to what he considers the left wings’ ‘no holds barred’ approach by fighting fire with fire. I think for people going into that administration. I think they have to be ready to oppose the misuse of government power.”

Barr revealed that one of the reasons he is against his former boss his because he fears Trump will focus his efforts more on retribution rather moving the nation forward.
“I’m worried that his style of governance, his continuing to pander to anger and frustration versus a constructive approach to solving our problems, is going to be chaotic and not accomplish very much,” Barr said. “He’ll be a lame duck president.”
