Dershowitz’s On Campus Antisemitism: They ‘Tolerated It’

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz on Wednesday revealed that there has been growing and widespread antisemitism among university students prior to Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel on Oct. 7.

The Havard law professor, while speaking on Wednesday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “The Record,” added that university presidents and professors knew about the widespread antisemitism on campus and did nothing about it. According to Dershowitz, those university leaders “tolerated” the rising antisemitism.

“Oh, of course, they did, and they tolerated it because the squeaky wheel gets the grease and the Jews haven’t been complaining as much as other groups,” Dershowitz said when asked if the presidents and professors in the universities were aware of antisemitism on their campus prior to Oct. 7 Hamas attack. “And so, the universities applied an obvious double standard.”

Dershowitz reiterated his desire to see the names of pro-Hamas students and faculty members published. The law professor added that he would personally participate in the naming of those students and faculty members.

“Let me make my view clear as a First Amendment advocate, as a civil libertarian, as somebody who loves the Constitution: I want to see the name of every single student who participated in any signing of any statement blaming the horrible assaults on Israel,” Dershowitz added. “I want to see their names published. … That’s not doxxing. That’s not McCarthyism. That’s transparency. That’s the essence of the First Amendment. I will personally participate in the naming and publicizing [of] the names of these students. Let them come after me at Harvard, let them show some sympathy for the people who were murdered and [assaulted] and robbed.”

Prior to his Wednesday revelation, the law professor had argued that the names of Students and faculty members from elite universities such as Harvard, Yale, Columbia and The City University of New York (CUNY) should be publicized so they can be judged.

“Let the student newspapers, many of which are rabidly anti-Israel, publish the names of all students and faculty members who belong to groups that support and oppose Hamas,” Dershowitz said. “… So let the names be published. Let the despicable students and faculty members who support Hamas stand up and defend their indefensible views, and let the marketplace of ideas decide who is right and who is wrong.”
