Hamas Begins Releasing Footage Of Israeli Hostages
Hamas on Monday released footage showing one of the hostages the terror group took when it attacked Israel on Oct. 7.
The Video showed one hostage, identified as 21-year-old Mia Shem, on a bed receiving treatment for her injured right arm.
“Hi, I am Mia Shem, I am 21 years old, from Shoham, at the moment I am in Gaza,” Shem said in a straight-to-camera shot taken by Hamas. “I came back on Saturday towards morning from the area of Sderot, there was a party, I was badly wounded in my hand, from the party they took me to Gaza, they took me to the hospital for three hours, they are worried about me, they are taking care of me, they are giving me medicines, everything is fine. I’m just asking to be returned home as soon as possible, to my family, my parents and my brothers. Please get us out of here as soon as possible. Thank you.”
Joe Truzman, an analyst focused on Palestinian armed groups and non-state actors in the Middle East, shared the footage on X while adding that he believes the footage is a poor attempt to show the terror group is treating the hostages well.
They did this with two other hostages they captured some years ago; Hisham Sayed and Avira Mengistu.

“Hamas releases its first footage of a hostage. The group says it is providing medical treatment to her,” Truzman wrote on X. “Though I think this is a poor attempt to show they are treating the hostages well. The hostage appears to be Israeli. They did this with two other hostages they captured some years ago; Hisham Sayed and Avira Mengistu.”
Schem’s mother, Keren Schem, last week spoke of her anguish after her daughter was kidnapped in Israel and taken to the Gaza Strip by Hamas. Keren said she had last spoken to her daughter on Oct. 6, one day before the attack.
“I couldn’t stop calling,” Keren said. “I kept telling myself, it’s OK, it was a party with thousands of people. What are the chances my daughter was hurt? I was trying to be rational, but I had no idea of the scale of the attack. I couldn’t have guessed it was a massacre.”
Keren said she had several different reports of what happened to her daughter with one person telling her that Mia was seen walking toward a kibbutz nearby. While another told her she had been spotted in a car that a Hamas gunman sprayed with bullets.
