Murder-Suicide Rocks Local Community

Authorities have reported that a 42-year-old New Jersey mom allegedly shot her husband and their two young daughters before turning the gun on herself in a murder-suicide on Wednesday.

According to the Union County prosecutor’s office, the bodies of 42-year-old Andrea Alarcon, 51-year-old Ruben Alarcon, and their two minor daughters were discovered inside their home on Wednesday. The prosecutor’s office did not release the names or ages of the two girls.

According to reports, Local sheriffs showed up at their suburban home on Lincrest Terrace to serve an eviction notice when they found all four victims with mortal gunshot wounds. The murder weapon was found near Andrea’s body, leaving investigators to believe that she was responsible for the tragic incident.

The family had lived in the home for 15 years and had a 60-day period to vacate the property after losing it for $322,000 in a sheriff’s sale held in Nov. 2023, according to the New York Post.

“In tragedies of this magnitude, there are no words that can heal, nor explanations that can serve to make sense of them to the public. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of these victims and the Union community as a whole in the wake of this horrible event.” Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said in a Statement.

Union Police Director Christopher Donnelly released a statement saying the event was “deeply tragic” and stunned the community.

“This is a deeply tragic event that has shaken our community to its core. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims,” Donnellys said. “We understand that this may be a difficult time for many people, and we encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out for help. Resources are available, and you don’t have to go through this alone.”

Neighbors said they hadn’t seen any activity at the Alarcon home for days. One of the neighbors stated they were unaware of children living in the house.
