Ramaswamy Says DeSantis Was Forced Into 2024 Run

GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has revealed why he thinks Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is running for president in 2024.

Ramaswamy, while speaking on the “PBD Podcast,” said he believes that the Florida governor actually got into the race because he was forced and deceived into running for the 2024 presidential election.

“I actually think he was a good governor. I think he’s a good dude,” Ramaswamy said. “He’s been exploited. I think that’s actually what’s happened here is, this man would have just continued being the governor of this state, and probably done a pretty good job of it.”

Host Patrick Bet-David pressed Ramaswamy, asking him if he believed the Florida GOP governor actually wanted to run for president. Ramaswamy responded, saying that he does not believe DeSantis wanted to run.

“I don’t think he wanted to,” Ramaswamy said, clarifying this is only his opinion. He claimed DeSantis was “dragged into” running for president, which was a “sort of abuse of a guy who wasn’t wired for this.”

Ramaswamy also hit out at Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Ronna McDaniel after she made false claims about his voting record. McDaniel, while speaking on Fox News, claimed Ramaswamy was new to the Republican party and that he previously voted for former President Barack Obama.

“The point is, this a person who’s running the RNC, managing other people’s money, and saying that ‘because you said something I don’t like, I’m not gonna give you one cent.’ Then goes on national TV and spews lies. It’s just a straight-up factual falsehood, right? Vivek voted for Obama. Is it false? Yes, it is. Is it damaging? Yes, it is. Is it done with malicious intent from the person who was booing at me and saying those things? Yes, it was. now, am I gonna go after— Because I have better things to do in my life?— probably not. But this is, this is corrupt stuff.
